She's been where few people have been and lived to tell the story!

It was January 14, 1991, two days before my 38th birthday. There I stood, before the Character Committee of the New York State Board of Law Examiners, facing the last obstacle in the way of my future—MY PAST!

From the moment I decided to become a lawyer, I was told I would never meet the requirements—that I’d never make it.  They said, my criminal record would get in the way. They said people like me--women who’d come from where I came from--didn't stand a chance. That women like me didn’t become lawyers--we paid lawyers! And had my life not been intervened upon by a power greater than myself, I would have been one of those casualties who didn't make it.

But those naysayers were wrong.  And now through the grace of God and a willingness to do the necessary work, today my life is an example that ANYTHING is Possible!
